As I scroll down my twitter timeline on multiple accounts, I see many online sex workers advertising their services, posting inspirational quotes, and one thing many of us don’t like to see; complaining. Now don’t go off yet, hear me out. Nothing is wrong with complaining. There are some aspects of life many of us don’t like. So in order to deal with that, some of us complain. It’s fine. I get it. However, when you’re selling a fantasy, constant complaints on your timeline doesn’t look too good and can make you lose both regular and potential clients.
The other day I was talking with a friend of mine and as most of our conversations start, we asked how the other is doing. My response is always “I’m great thanks can’t complain.” My friend pointed that out to me the other day and asked, “are you really always great and can’t complain or is that just a canned response?”
Of course I’m not always okay. I have my days but with those not so good days, I always learn a lesson. Complaining doesn’t do anyone any good. It doesn’t solve anything and it won’t help you have a better day. I’ve learned in life you can’t always control what happens to you, but you can control how you react to it and in your reaction is where you hold your power.
I know I went off on a rant, but the point is I understand that the adult industry is unpredictable. You may make $3,000 one week and $100 the next. Trust me, I know how it is. However, you must always remain positive. There is always a lesson to be learned especially when things aren’t going your way. If you have a bad week don’t do a Twitter rant. Instead look at your marketing techniques, switch your brand up a little, and send emails out to regulars or clients who you haven’t heard from in a while. Constant social media rants and negative posts will ultimately hurt your business. Like I stated before this is a fantasy business. You are selling men and women a fantasy. You are taking them away from their sometimes dull lives and adding some spice to it. They don’t want to hear about you not making enough money or always hear you complain about men are just following you for free stuff. They want to see you tease them, entice them, and make them weak for you.
Next time you’re having a bad money day or week, remember change is inevitable.
I had to learn this lesson the hard way
